Happy new month guys!
Where has the time gone?? Just yesterday we were all over the place, moving around town, and now we’re cooped up in out houses… How times have changed, right? 2020 will be over in 4 months! Can you believe it!?
At around this time every year, I find myself burning out and in need of a major break, because life gets hectic and overbearing sometimes. I decided to take a one week break from my everyday life and relax, and I must say that it was quite rewarding…
When I first settled on the fact that I was going on a break, I instantly felt lighter, like all my worries were cast away. It’s not like I hate my life or anything, but sometimes you just need a break.
First day jitters…
On the first day of said break, I woke up feeling excited but weird because I wasn’t used to doing nothing. I’ve had a steady routine going for a while, and not following it made me feel a bit uneasy. I however shook the feeling off and set my mind to relax mode.
I’m not going to lie, I was still tempted to post on my instagram (@AStrangerInAccra (shameless plug!)) I would wake up panicking about the fact that I hadn’t posted, then I’d remember that I was on a break. I just love sharing with you guys on there!
Now, I don’t need much to relax. Give me a good movie/series, some nice food, a calm environment and I’ll be happy.
I ordered some food in, made something nice to drink and settled into my couch to watch a movie. I can confidently say that I was immensely happy at that exact moment. I had no care in the world…
As the days went on, I still relaxed, but worked on my posts for Instagram and this blog. I genuinely find working on posts very exciting, so I wasn’t stressed or anything.
Refuel yourself…
It was very important that I refueled myself in more ways than one, so I prayed more, read my Bible, journalled, worked out and slept. My physical, mental and spiritual health is very, very important to me. Anyone that knows me very well would say the same.
I also visited family members and that warmed my heart. I hadn’t seen them in a while, so just being around them made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
As my break came to an end, I was excited to go back to my regular degular life. I missed it in a way…
Absence makes the heart grow fonder…
One thing this break made me realise is that absence truly makes the heart grow fonder. This means that in order to appreciate your ordinary life for what it is, you have to shake it up a bit. You have to change the dynamic sometimes. You basically never miss/appreciate what you have until it’s gone. If I didn’t take this break, I would’ve started to feel overstressed and resentment towards my life. Who wants that?
I want to advise each and every one of you reading this to take a break. Let go and breathe, guys. It’s ok. You will come back better than ever and pick up from where you left off. Don’t feel like you’ll lose everything if you go a few days without working. It will still be there when you come back.
The trick is don’t be gone for too long, or the world will learn how to function without you. It’s a sad truth, but is the reality of the world we live in.
So take a break! Breathe! Chill out! Read that book, watch that movie, run that marathon and prepare that meal! It’s little things like these that make life worth living, so don’t take them for granted…
Thanks for reading!
Don’t forget to follow!

You’re so right about taking a break….. Sometimes the body just needs a chilling Jumpstart to help boost it…. Instead of overworking, you’d just relax, recollect your thoughts, and get back to work and I feel that makes one more efficient in producing good results no matter how laborious the task ahead is. Thank you for the advice ππΎππΎπ―π―π―π―
